Taco´s popularity is such that in the United States, there is a tradition called Taco Tuesday. It is an American custom in some cities, particularly throughout Southern California, although it may be found all over the country.
There are several theories about its origins. Some people prefer to believe it was a lucky coincidence. Back in 1930, many restaurants offered discounted food on certain days. Tuesday was the chosen day for the Tacos, maybe because of the alliteration of both words.
The fact is that these offerings became so popular that they remained a tradition in restaurants. Tacos Tuesday is simply the day for eating Tacos at special prices.
Making Taco Tuesday At Home
Tacos Tuesday is not an exclusive restaurant event. People adopted this tradition and started to make it at home.
If you want to include it as a weekly family tradition, start with the following recipe.
Ingredients (4 servings):
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- 1 diced onion.
- One diced red bell pepper.
- 2 tablespoons of diced garlic.
- 1/4 cup of water.
- 1 1/2 tablespoons of taco seasoning.
- 1 can of black beans.
- 1 1/2 cups of cooked rice.
- Salt and pepper.
- 8 corn tortillas.
- Sliced onions Chopped cilantro
- Sliced radishes.
- In a skillet, pour olive oil and heat over medium temperature.
- Add onion, red bell pepper, and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Incorporate taco seasoning mix and water. Combine very well.
- Add drained black beans, cooked rice, salt, and pepper.
- Cook for 10 more minutes.
- Take each corn tortilla and fill it with the preparation.
- Serve with onion, cilantro, and radishes at the top.
