Ingredients (Starter dough)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cooled water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. rapid-rise brewer’s yeast

Dough 

  • Add the following ingredients to the starter dough
  • 3.5 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. of yeast
  • One cup of water
  • One and a half tbsp. of salt

Ingredients After Baking

  • Beat one large egg white
  • Using two tablespoons of water
  • A tablespoon of sesame seeds

Grind your leftover bread into a powder mix and combine it with your “starter dough.” 

The Perfect Dough

  • A soft, smooth dough is formed by combining kneading the starter dough with the rest of the dough ingredients.
  • A half-hour later, remove the lid and let the dough rise.
  • Remove the dough from the bowl, deflate it, fold it in thirds, and flip it over.
  • Bake for another two hours.
  • Allow the dough to rest for 10 minutes once it has deflated and been rolled into a ball.
  • Roll the dough into 8-inch circles once it has rested for at least 30 minutes to make your mini muffuletta bread.
  • After that, bake the “8 round pizza, place the doughs on the parchment-lined pan, cover it with plastic wrap, and put it in the fridge overnight.

Steps To Bake 

  • Remove the chilled dough from the refrigerator and preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Let it rest for 30 minutes before baking.
  • Brush the top of the dough with the beaten egg white before removing the lid.
  • Spread a liberal amount of sesame seeds over the dish.
  • Using a digital thermometer, check the bread for 190°F in the middle after 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Then place it on a cooling rack to cool completely.

Final Touches Of Muffuletta 

  • Cut the bread into six pieces of 8″ circles and slice them across the equator.
  • Slice each round in half and apply a half tablespoon of olive or garlic oil to the cut side of each one.
  • On the cut side of the bottom round, spread half a tablespoon of olive oil or garlic oil along with chopped olives.
  • Add salami and provolone to the pot along with provolone and mortadella.
  • Add a third round.
  • Slice into two-inch broad strips then cut into four-inch pieces.
